God is SO much.

A few days ago in my quiet time I was reading a brief devotion about who God is. I can't really say that it was a totally revolutionary devotion time that taught me some new magnificent insite into who God is. I can tell you that it was an awesome time with God that morning though. I know that sometimes (probably most of the time) I tend to forget who God is. I don't mean that I forget, in that I don't have the knowledge in my head, but rather I forget, in that I take it for granted and it really does not significantly impact my daily life. I get caught up in the hustle and bustle and garbage of life. But during this devotion I was just reminded of who God is; how big, how powerful, how complete, how holy, how eternal, how necessary, how shocking. Anytime I think about God and who he truly is as the perfect Creator of all things, I always ask myself "why?". Why does He care about me? Why does He want to reveal Himself to me? Why does He guide me? Why does He pursue me? He has so much more to worry about and deal with and think about. Yet nonetheless, He wants to just stop, and be...with me. Wow.

I can't imagine what it would be like to have the President George W. Bush show up at my door one morning and say "Hey. Whatcha doin? Do you have some time to talk...to hang out a little?" That seems pretty far fetched and I know it is almost certainly never going to happen to me. However GOD, the "I AM" does exactly that to me every single morning. He shows up desiring to be with me, talk with me, and just hang out with me. That is just unbelievable! And the amazing thing about God is this....whatever it is that I need that day, God is! HE IS! If I need encouragement, He is an encourager. If I need healing, He is the Healer. If I need a kick in the rear, He is the Kicker. Whatever I need, He, the creator and sustainer of ALL things, IS! Wow...talk about something that will knock you square in the face right to the ground. He will. God is...SO much!

D-NOW 08'

Recently we got to participate in the FAYMA sposored Disciple Now 08. We had about 40 students participating. It was a very cool weekend. We got to hear some great worship bands, some great speakers, and have a lot of fun. There were four small groups that stayed in four different homes with four different leaders. It seems these small group times were where our students were most challenged in their spiritual lives. I put together a short video from the weekend that I am trying to figure out how to get posted on here. Check back soon to see the video.

Easter Weekend

I wanted to share some pics from our "He is Alive" Celebration that we had the day before Easter. What an awesome day it was. We are not exactly sure of the numbers but we are confident that we had at least 500 people here at Woolsey. The day was filled music, fun, easter egg hunts (for preschoolers, children, youth and even adults) and praise to our Lord and resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ. What a way to celebrate His death and Resurrection! I thought about that idea all weekend. It must sound so crazy to the secular world that we Christians want to "celebrate" someones death. Aren't we supposed to mourn death and celebrate life? And of course that is exactly what we are doing. We are celebrating the eternal life that Jesus Christ provided to me and you and the death that He conquered by dying on the cross, paying our penalty in hell, and rising again from the grave! I actually can't think of anything more worthy of our whole hearted celebration! Enjoy the pics.
